SHARPEI's are medium-sized dogs,
45 to 60 pounds from ancient China.
They were used to guard, hunt,
and sometimes fight.

Shar-pei means “sand skin” -
referring to their distinct bristly coat.
They are covered in folded, loose skin
with dark purple tongues, powerful
square heads, triangle-shaped ears,
thick curly tails, and padded muzzles.
